Today in Hawai‘i is Statehood Day or Admission Day. It is a holiday for the State of Hawai‘i set for the third Friday in August. It is supposed to commemorate the anniversary of when Hawai‘i was admitted to the American Union in 1959.
On March 18, 1959, the U.S. Congress enacted a statute called An Act To provide for the admission of the State of Hawaii into the Union. This Act of Congress began the process where Hawai‘i would eventually be admitted into the Union. On August 21, 1959, the third Friday of August, U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a proclamation making Hawai‘i the 50th State. With the unveiling of a more accurate and objectively true history, the State of Hawai‘i never legally existed in the first place.
In 1999, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, in Larsen v. Hawaiian Kingdom, recognized the continued existence of the Hawaiian Kingdom as an independent State since the 19th century. And in 2024, Oxford University Press published a chapter by Dr. Keanu Sai “Hawai‘i’s Sovereignty and Survival in the Age of Empire,” in H.E. Chehabi and David Motadel’s book Unconquered States: Non-European Powers in the Imperial Age. In this chapter Dr. Sai covers: the legal and political history of my country—the Hawaiian Kingdom; the evolution of governance as a constitutional monarchy; the unlawful overthrow of the government by United States troops in 1893; the prolonged American occupation since 1893; the restoration of the government of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1997; and the recognition, by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in 1999, of the continued existence of the Hawaiian Kingdom as a State and the Council of Regency as its provisional government. Because the Hawaiian Kingdom currently exists as a State under international law, the State of Hawai‘i cannot simultaneously exist as a State under American law.

One of my children was working at the Made In Hawaii 3-day event & needed transportation, so I was out-n-about. While I saw NO protests, more importantly I saw NO “celebrations” of the FAKE state! Instead, locals went shopping and/or treated it *just* as a day off. 😜

Caution when investing in US dollar Council of Regency Hawaiian Kingdom bonds when the dollar is sinking…you going lose your money fast. And although you’ll have paid for the protection and restoration of your civil and political rights, you won’t get any of the protections, privileges and benefits until the occupation ends. So unless you buying US dollar bonds from China and investing it in something that can offset inflation/money printing, it ain’t worth it. And unless you understand how government financing, securities, central banking, and bills of credit work, I suggest more study less investing.
Consider especially how investing in a government bond that is not a sovereign government and whose bonds can be effected by any DCCA enforcement actions will impact your investment. What are your thoughts on Pohakuloa? Do you guys think that the Council of Regency would have any leverage against the US military. They’re saying they need a deal by the end of this year or they will claim imminent domain and just take it. But they have no jurisdiction to claim that because Hawai’i is not a state. I think we can help ourselves as with the TMT more than any 3rd party can because only we can determine our allegiances and give our pledge. However we must recognize the kuleana private property rights of heirs on Crown and government lands instead of public rights, interests or welfare under the state constitution. So many Hawaiians stay talking about ideas for what should be done but only the heirs have a vested right and interest in the lands.
For example, in Makua, some Hawaiians stay exercising public rights access and use totally ignoring that there were private properties which were unlawfully condemned under eminent domain.
More importantly, the sacrilegious Lono practices engaged in Makua by foreign Hawaiian settlers in Waianae is hurtful to the actual people of the land, the kupuka’aina, the original families. Those rediscovering themselves and their history should steer clear of the private rights of undetermined kuleana heirs and know what cultural practices are associated with lands. There is a reason why all the temples in Waianae are dedicated to Kane (Kanehunamoku, Kaneaki, Kaneikapualena, Kaneana, Kaneilioloa, etc.). The

I think the US military is fear mongering with imminent domain and trying to rush Green into signing an agreement because they know that the Hawaiian Kingdom has Kingdom has filed an official complaint against the US. They know that time is not on their side.
That makes total sense, however any agreement made by Green in the pressure of the Federal agency will surely have the blowback of the Hawaiian people’s will to protest and defend their Crown, government and kuleana lands and rights. Because states are primary in international law, they prioritize their own interests before others but any common interests aligned which is of benefit to both can be utilized for legal and/or political purposes and leverage. That being said, I believe the cause of the US Army tightening the screws on Green is actually different and not because the Hawaiian Kingdom filed a complaint due to the fact that the complaint was filed after the Secretary’s visit here and not before. Thus, they had no clue about it. Therefore, the basis for their reaction was more due to the public administrative state process where the people won out.
Aside from that though we need consensus against such US public doctrines like just compensation because no amount of money can buy our territorial sovereignty over Crown, government, and kuleana lands. Yesterday I attended Ka Lei Maile Ali’i, Women of the Queen (A Dramatic Reenactment), at the Iolani Palace grounds Dr Sai was the guest speaker. It was awesome. Dr.Sai gave his presentation of how we got to be illegally occupied. Then with the audience participation we had a reenactment of a Group of Hawaiians coming together to sign the Ku’e petition after the overthrow. It was dramatic, riveting and very emotional. So glad that I got a chance to experience that with Dr. Keanu Sai. If any of you get a chance to attend, I highly recommend it.

I would love to learn more about Wayland’s cooperative capitalism. I wonder if Universal Basic Income would be included in cooperative capitalism as money is a means rather than a goal. Similar to rather than giving a fish, you give them tools (fishing rods, boat, nets, etc.) and knowledge (teach) on how to fish.

However, one SUCCESSFUL state “cooperative capitalism” venture is The ALASKA Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) that provides annual cash payments to eligible residents from a portion of the state’s OIL REVENUES.
What could Hawaii do that was similar? Ideas? 🤔
1. *If* HK gov owned some hotels, those specific ones could benefit locals w/ a ‘dividend’. Locals would then WANT the visitor’s experience to be great.
2. *SPACE TRAVEL & AEROSPACE?
Hawai‘i’s mid-Pacific location is ideal for equatorial launches, space tourism, or satellite tracking stations. Potential includes spaceports for private companies or research hubs.
DIVIDEND POTENTIAL: Licensing launch facilities to aerospace firms (e.g., SpaceX, Blue Origin) or developing a Kingdom space agency could yield high revenue for dividends, especially as space industries grow.
COOPERATIVE ANGLE: A state-backed aerospace cooperative could train locals for high-skill jobs, manage leases, and reinvest profits into education and dividends, balancing innovation with community benefit.
