I am very sad that you celebrate what we don’t have. Our independence was stolen. You can commemorate it, but celebrating is wrong. Do the haoles celebrate 9/11? No. They also commemorate it. If you celebrate it now, you are satisfied with the status quo.
I celebrate the presumption of continuity of our Hawaiian Kingdom, We were denationalized and raised with an American narrative of our history rather than the truth. We are now being re-educated by the voices and documents of OUR KUPUNA. Hawaii was never annexed but has been occupied for 123 years. I believe de-occupation and return of our Hawaiian Kingdom will happen in my lifetime…
