In 1845, the Hawaiian Government purchased a printing press and The Polynesian newspaper. The Polynesian newspaper was a weekly paper that provided stories, but more importantly it provided government issues, laws and notices. The last issue of The Polynesian was printed on February 6, 1864, vol. XX, due to budget constraints, after almost 20 years of service. In the year 2000, the Hawaiian Government, by its Acting Council of Regency, has re-established The Polynesian as a monthly publication to apprise the nation, both Hawaiian subjects and foreign nationals, of the Hawaiian Kingdom from both a domestic and international viewpoint. Subscriptions to The Polynesian in print are $12 for 12 issues (which includes back issues starting in September, 2000). Send check or money order made out to "The Polynesian" to:
