{"id":5614,"date":"2022-03-08T01:59:10","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T01:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/?p=5614"},"modified":"2022-03-08T02:43:44","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T02:43:44","slug":"association-of-hawaiian-evangelical-churches-send-letter-to-governor-ige-urging-him-to-transform-state-of-hawaii-into-an-occupying-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/association-of-hawaiian-evangelical-churches-send-letter-to-governor-ige-urging-him-to-transform-state-of-hawaii-into-an-occupying-government\/","title":{"rendered":"Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches Send Letter to Governor Ige Urging Him to Transform State of Hawai\u2018i into an Occupying Government"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This past July 18, 2021, the General Synod of the United Church of Christ passed a resolution \u201c<strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/pdf\/Committee_5_Hawaiian_Self_Governance_FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Encouraging to End 128 years of War between the United States of America and the Hawaiian Kingdom<\/a><\/strong>.\u201d The resolution was introduced by the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hcucc.org\/ahec\" target=\"_blank\">Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches<\/a><\/strong> (AHEC). Pastor Wendell Davis is the head of AHEC as the Papa Makua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AHEC is an association of 30 native Hawaiian protestant churches and 6 partnerships that include, as partnership ministries, the State Sunday School Association, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/pjrcpeace.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pacific Justice and Reconciliation<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ksbe.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kamehameha Schools<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hcucc.org\/schcc\" target=\"_blank\">State Council of Hawaiian Congregational Churches<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cehawaii.weebly.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Christian Endeavor Hawai\u2018i<\/a><\/strong>, and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/paamucc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pacific Islander &amp; Asian American Ministries<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AHEC is a successor of the \u2018Ahahui \u2018Euanelio o Hawai\u2018i, also known as the Hawaiian Evangelical Association, that was established in 1854 in the Hawaiian Kingdom. Well known churches such as&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kawaiahaochurch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kawaiaha\u2018o<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaumakapili.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kaumakapili<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;are members of AHEC. The resolution<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201ccalls upon all settings of the church, denomination officers, conferences, associations, and congregations to live into the 1993 Apology of the United Church of Christ delivered to the Native Hawaiian people by President Paul Sherry.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201ccall[s] upon the United Church of Christ\u2019s General Counsel\u2019s office to listen to and consider recommendations from the Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches, other Native Hawaiian organizations and Native Hawaiian voices drafting communications to local, national and international leaders and organizations calling for compliance with international humanitarian law and an end to the illegal occupation of the Hawaiian Islands.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201creaffirm its commitment to stand alongside and in support of the efforts of Native Hawaiians to seek redress and restitution for the war crimes of the US against the Hawaiian Kingdom including, but not limited to, the crime of denationalization.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In its first communication to local leaders, AHEC sent a certified <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ahecchurch.weebly.com\/uploads\/2\/4\/3\/9\/2439629\/letter_to_governor_ige_updated.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter to State of Hawai\u2018i Governor David Ige<\/a><\/strong> on February 23, 2022, stating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>[W]e support the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nlginternational.org\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Letter-from-the-NLG-to-State-of-HI-Governor-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Lawyers Guild\u2019s letter<\/a><\/strong> to you dated November 10, 2020, urging you, as Governor,<\/p><p>[T]o proclaim the transformation of the State of Hawai\u2018i and its Counties into an occupying government pursuant to the Council of Regency\u2019s proclamation of June 3, 2019, in order to administer the laws of the Hawaiian Kingdom. This would include carrying into effect the Council of Regency\u2019s proclamation of October 10, 2014 that bring the laws of the Hawaiian Kingdom in the nineteenth century up to date.
