As part of a three part series the\u00a0National Education Association<\/a>\u00a0(NEA) has published the third and final article on the American occupation of Hawai\u2018i. The NEA is the largest labor union in the United States comprised of public school teachers, administrators, and faculty and administrators of universities. This third and final article is titled “The Impact of the U.S. Occupation on the Hawaiian People<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

The NEA\u2019s article stems from a\u00a0resolution<\/a>\u00a0that was passed by its delegates who met at their annual convention in 2017 in Boston, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The resolution was introduced by the delegates of the\u00a0Hawai\u2018i State Teachers Association<\/a>, which is an affiliate labor union of the NEA, and it passed on July 4, 2017. The resolution was referred to as New Business Item 37<\/a>, which stated:<\/p>\n

“The NEA will publish an article that documents the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy in 1893, the prolonged occupation of the United States in the Hawaiian Kingdom and the harmful effects that this occupation has had on the Hawaiian people and resources of the land.”<\/p>\n
