{"id":4370,"date":"2018-07-27T19:37:33","date_gmt":"2018-07-27T19:37:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/?p=4370"},"modified":"2018-07-27T19:37:33","modified_gmt":"2018-07-27T19:37:33","slug":"big-island-video-news-bivn-hawaiian-kingdom-files-lawsuit-against-president-trump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/big-island-video-news-bivn-hawaiian-kingdom-files-lawsuit-against-president-trump\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Island Video News (BIVN): Hawaiian Kingdom Files Lawsuit Against President Trump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bigislandvideonews.com\/2018\/07\/27\/hawaiian-kingdom-files-lawsuit-against-president-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>HAWAII ISLAND &#8211; Keanu Sai has filed a petition for an emergency writ of mandamus with U.S. Federal District Court in Washington, D.C.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bigislandvideonews.com\/2018\/07\/27\/hawaiian-kingdom-files-lawsuit-against-president-trump\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4371 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/BIVN-HK-v.-Trump-647x700.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"647\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/BIVN-HK-v.-Trump-647x700.png 647w, https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/BIVN-HK-v.-Trump-768x831.png 768w, https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/BIVN-HK-v.-Trump-277x300.png 277w, https:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/BIVN-HK-v.-Trump.png 831w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 647px) 100vw, 647px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>(BIVN)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 David Keanu Sai, Ph.D., acting as Chairman of the\u00a0<em>acting\u00a0<\/em>Council of Regency for the Hawaiian Kingdom, has filed a <a href=\"http:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/pdf\/Petition_for_Mandamus.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> against United States President Donald Trump regarding the prolonged American occupation of the Hawaiian Islands.<\/p>\n<p>Sai, who will be speaking at a La Ho\u2018iho\u2018i Ea event in Kalapana this weekend, filed the lawsuit on June 25 in U.S. Federal District Court in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>The suit comes on the heels of the <a href=\"http:\/\/hawaiiankingdom.org\/pdf\/Dr_deZayas_Memo_2_25_2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February 25 memorandum<\/a> written by Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/issues\/intorder\/pages\/alfreddezayas.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alfred M. deZayas<\/a> \u2013 the United Nations Independent Expert under the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights \u2013 to members of the judiciary of the State of Hawai\u2018i advising the courts \u201cshould not lend themselves to a flagrant violation of the rights of the land title holders\u201d and \u201cmust not enable or collude in the wrongful taking of private lands\u201d, based on the understanding that Hawaii is a \u201csovereign nation-state in continuity\u201d which is \u201cunder a strange form of occupation by the United States resulting from an illegal military occupation and fradulent annexation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The conclusion of Dr. deZayas is nothing new to followers of Sai\u2019s work. He has been working at home and abroad to educate the world about the Hawai\u2018ian Kingdom.
